The official opening of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines - East Asean Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) was held last March 12, 2011 in Sabah Trade Centre, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. The event was officiated by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Hj Aman with former Philippines President Fidel V. Ramos.
The BIMP-EAGA Expo 2011 was organized by BIMP-EAGA Business Council (BEBC). The provincial government of Palawan was there headed by Gov. Baham Mitra together with Board Members Boy Bonoan & Sunny Batul. Also there were Provincial Development Management Council Samuel 'Soc' Madamba, Palawan Economic Development Council (PEDCO) President Engr. Banzon with Ex-Board Member Cipriano 'Panoy' Barroma.

The Municipality of Brooke's Point, being in the strategic place for trade with neighboring nation named above, was tagged as "Gateway to Southeast Asia and the growth center of the south" was recently opened it's doors for a Freeport Zone for BIMP-EAGA. Brooke's Point newly-elected Mayor, Dr. Narciso B. Leoncio, fully supported this matter, personally attended this event with Brooke's Point Economic Development Council (BPEDCO) namely: Former Vice-Mayor Danilo Chan, Marine Products Trader Hji. Pisingan Isnain & on the Business sector: Ms. Ripa Amin.
Mayor Narciso B. Leoncio also said to the author (Ton Abengoza), that the Trade will commence (hopefully) this coming July 2011, as long as the Malaysian authorities set-up their CIQS (Customs, Immigration, Quarantine Services) in Labuan, Malaysia. We, here in Brooke's Point already have our own CIQS.
